Rapa Nui - Te Pito O Te Henua (the navel of the world)

Anakena Beach
According to the traditions, the first inhabitants of Rapa Nui (Hotu Matua and his people) arrived to this beautiful beach, which was used as the first settlement about 1500 years ago.

The statues called MOAI, were reserved for the important people in the history of the island (chiefs of tribes and clans) in order to protect the fertility and fecundity of the inhabitants of this society.

Ahu Tangariki, one of the most famous archaeological sites in Rapa Nui, Easter Island is located in the Pacific ocean about 27 degrees south of the equator and about 3600 km front to the chilean coast.
